About Us

                The Leading Women’s Repertory Theatre is a Non Profit - Tax Exempt Professional Organization based out of Atlanta Georgia .  Our mission is to provide Professional Theatre Productions throughout the countrye, utilizing   multi-talented diverse women.  We focus on enhancing the awareness of theatre, as well as providing a professional introduction and theatrical foundation to children and adults .

                 Our company mission is to Educate & Mentor, through technical training and  workshops. By doing so we focus on the major elements of the theatre such as: all areas of performing arts, scenery, sound & lighting, costume design as well as playwrighting.   The organizations main focus is to conserve, preserve and perpetuate the true aspects of Theatre. 

                The founder of this organization is Riki Brooks a graduate of Bowie State College.  There she earned her Bachelor of Science, majoring in Performing Arts and Drama Education.  She has toured with professional Broadway theatre companies such as : “Dreamgirls” , “Ain’t Misbehavin “,” A Chorus Line”  a former contestant of Miss America & Miss Black America , Riki realizes the importance of  preserving theatre.  Her concerns are with the ever changing times. She believes that audiences are no longer being given the true experience into the arts.

                She also believes that audiences today are forced to experience the urban / hiphop/rap element as a general classification of the art form.  Not being given the notoriety of any other art forms like Ballet, Jazz  etc.         These attitudes have begun to saturate our communities, schools, churches etc.  Due to overwhelming  media explosions of self degradation of  women ,men & life in general.

                 Riki has spent many years providing a positive, creative, professional atmosphere for young women & teens to spread their creative wings in Fulton, Cobb & Dekalb Lithonia, Jonesboro, Lilburn and the/ Atlanta area.  She has taken her professional experiences from the stages abroad and passed them on to other young women both black & white,  urban & suburban.   In 1999 Riki created an original show “Satin Dolls”.  An original musical revue that pays tribute to the leading ladies of  jazz.  Recognizing such jazz musical giants like Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Count Bassies etc.  The show took off to an amazing start.  “Satin Dolls” is a classy musical journey filled with pageantry & memorable songs from artist such as: Lena Horne, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington alike.  Riki went to area high schools, colleges etc. holding auditions. 

                The Leading Women’s Repertory Theatre has received numerous awards and recognitions since in 2006 LWRT received acknowledgment from

·         the office of Mayor Shirley Franklin by way of a letter  

·         the office of the City of Roswell Mayor Jere Wood by way of letter

·         the City of Roswell Mayor Jere Wood by way of Proclamation

·         the office of the City of Miami Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas by way of Proclamation

                Since then the Leading Women’s Repertory theatre  has continued feeding the community with their work and has inspired several  women and teens to pursue their dreams
